Our thanks to the Jesuit educational charity Fe y Alegría, and to private donors, for helping to make Sarah Clarkson’s employment possible.
In addition, we express our grateful appreciation for the donations that have come from half a dozen other trusts, organisations and individuals, some of whom have made donations in four figures, and for the regular support of a host of small donors, many of whom have made Standing Orders. We are particular grateful for the standing orders, as they add up to a regular income for us to continue operating and expanding.
Begun by a Jesuit priest in Venezuela in 1955 to bring education to the poor, Fe y Alegría today operates in 17 Latin American countries. It began in Paraguay in 1991, and now runs some 34 schools and educational centres, as well as a radio station.
Fe y Alegría are working with SMEF to facilitate the employment of our Field Officer, Sarah Clarkson, and to ensure that it is managed in accordance with Paraguayan law. We are truly grateful for this help as employment has not previously been part of our experience.
Fe y Alegría works in collaboration with the Jesuits, who have been closely associated with education in Paraguay since the early 17th century.
